As you know I have my own shop, and I primarily work on Bimmers and Jaguars. Saturday I had a 2005 6 series come to me and customer had it at a local shop. The guy says I had a increased emissions code, so he asked the shop to check it out. They kept the car according to the customer 2 days and according to the customer attempted to download fresh software into the car. This attempt triggered 44 codes and some CAN failure. The customer was told the car had a damaged pcm...customer was pissed and went to get his car and said you guys are nuts! He brings me the car and ooo boy,yes 44 codes,i-drive failure, dsc, active steering malfunction, hvac, headlights flashing, and I can go on and on..I explained that we need everything on the same page before we can attempt to read diagnostic parameters so the pcm can detect the fault for the SES. So I took the Maxysis, recoded the entire car, including the steering angle sensor and yaw rate sensor,I- drive worked again, headlights off, all codes were gone, drove car until the original emissions code returned. I smoked the car and found the y- tube under the intake was cracked. Done deal, the next vehicle was 750 bmw li 2007, tranny stuck in limp mode (3rd gear), guys says car was stuck in limp mode for about 2 months. He took it to nearby tranny shop they said it needed a rebuild! 4200.00, YEAP! You heard right...so I took the Maxysis, did a scan, cleared the codes, did a recode, then cleared adaptions, and then a reset took me 20 minutes.. The car shifts as new.....I drove the car 80 miles, on hwy, and city..I wanted to make sure she wasn't gonna jerk or become erratic ...I suggested that he do a tranny service immediately and did explain that it may do it again as I am not a tranny expect. But guys these customers were elated...I didn't have to reach for gt1,progman,ista etc. I didn't have to reach for my Launch, but my Maxysis took care of these small but important fixes that I earned me two new customers...I wanted to share this because as we all know we have a good days and bad days with our units, but this little unit shined for me this week! Until next time happy wrenching...oh yea, by the way the shop used a Autologic!!!
